Thanks for making
the Terry and Sharon
Dickey family front page
material (BDN, Nov. 17).
While reading the story
it sounded so familiar.
I am writing on behalf
of the family of Joyce
McLain, the 16-year-old
girl who was murdered in
East Millinocket in
1988.
Unlike the
investigators, we
understand Terry, Sharon
and their family's hurt
and also the
disappointment in the
system. My husband and I
have sat at our kitchen
table with some of the
same investigators, many
times. We were told it
would only be a matter
of time and someone
would be picked up or
arrested. We put our
trust in them. Nineteen
years later we are still
waiting. I still feel
that they let us down.
Someone didn't do their
job. Don't let them put
your son Johnny's case
on the shelf, if you do
it will never be
activated again.
We
were advised to put our
case aside and get on
with our lives. We are
coping and getting on
with our lives but there
will always be that
empty chair at the
table. No it will never
be the same for you. I
pray for you all. We are
sure God understands.
And He cares. You are
not alone.
